Does anyone have any ideas on this? I'm stumped! I've tried changing the drive types in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE, using USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports but nothing I do works. This is the very first time I see that problem, the disks and enclosures are working perfectly on other computers. However, the USB pendrives and SD cards works perfectly, despite of the file system format. It happens many times until the system reports a device failure.

I thought it was a driver issue and I tried with an Ubuntu 12.04.3 live from USB and same problem: the computer detects the device, tries to open it and then the window disappear. I have two enclosures and both are working on the other PCs. The problem now is that I can't access at all any hard disks connected with a 3.5'' HDD USB enclosure.
